Downline Team Building – Take Care Of The Little Things

While some people will tell you that downline team building is simply a “numbers game,” you would be wise not to believe them.  Your downline is made up of people – hard working people just like you – and when you treat them like people you’ll simply get better results.  Instead of taking some people’s downline team building approach of “enroll and ignore,” you can create a stronger, more productive downline by doing the little things that make a big difference to the most valuable people in your business.

Really Get To Know The People In Your Downline

At the end of the day, the result of downline team building is to create a stream of high producers – but that doesn’t mean you should treat everyone as a sales number.  When you bring someone on to your team, get to know them.  Learn about their families, their day jobs, their goals for the future.  Not only will this make them feel more valued (and more likely to stay in your downline), it will also make them more motivated to be a productive member of your team.  Research and experience alike prove that happy people are by nature better producers – and since that is the case, you want your team as happy as they can be.

Maintain Frequent Contact With Your Downline Team From The Start

Momentum is your number one asset when it comes to downline team building.  The moment people join your team, you have them at their most moldable and motivated state of mind and you don’t want to lose that feeling.  You can use tools like email to keep in weekly contact with your team, and post people’s sales stats on a team website for all to see.  By keeping a constant sense of camaraderie (and maybe a little bit of competition) among your team, you reinforce the importance of really working the business.  If setting up a website or mailing list seems out of your league, take heart – there are plenty of free resources on the internet that will take all of the hard work out of the process.  A quick web search will help you find what you need.

Celebrate Personal Milestones With Your Team

Another great thing you can do with your email list and website is to celebrate all the special events that are occurring with your team members.  If someone hits a sales record, send out an email to everyone.  Post birthdays, anniversaries and other special events to your website so that people feel appreciated and remembered.  Have a place on your site where people can congratulate and encourage one another as well, and your downline team building efforts can be strengthened and multiplied.  Building a sense of community is important because it opens the door for team members to feel comfortable asking each other for help.

Downline team building is the heart of your business – so be sure to do it well!  These simple tips will get you started.
